A SUPPLEMENT

To an act, entitled "An Act to incorporate the village of Bethlehem, in the county of Northampton, into a borough."

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa tives of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in General Assembly met, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That Burgess and town the burgess and council of the borough of Bethlehem, in the county of council may bor- Northampton, are hereby authorized and empowered to borrow, on the faith and credit of the said borough, any sum or sums not exceeding, in the whole, an amount of fifteen hundred dollars, for the purpose of grading and improving the streets, roads, lanes and alleys of said borough; and they are further authorized and empowered to appropriate the onethird part of the borough tax of each and every year, (commencing with the year one thousand eight hundred and forty-seven,) to the repayment of the principal and interest of said loan, until the same is fully paid.

To the act, entitled "An Act to authorize the president or associate judge of the district court of Allegheny county, to hold special courts in Washington county," approved the third day of February, one thousand eight hundred and forty-six.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in General Assembly met, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That the act to which this is a supplement, is hereby extended and continued in full force until the third day of February, one thousand eight hundred and forty-eight.

AN ACT

Relative to justices of the peace of Lebanon county.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa. tives of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in General Assembly

met. and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That Justice to make the justices of the peace in and for the county of Lebanon, shall be re- return of recogquired to return to the deputy attorney general of the said county, all nizance to deputy recognizances entered into by any person or persons charged with the attorney general. commission of any crime, except such cases which may be ended before a justice of the peace under existing laws, at least ten days before the commencement of the term to which they are made returnable respectively; and in all cases where any recognizances are entered into, less than ten days before the first day of the term to which they are returnable, the said justices are required to return the same forthwith as aforesaid; and any justices of the peace who shall refuse or omit to comply with the provisions hereof, shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and may be prosecuted by indictment, in the court of the general quarter sessions of the peace for the said county: Provided, That this sec- Proviso. tion shall not go into effect until the first day of May next.

A SUPPLEMENT

To an act to incorporate the town of Milesburg, in the county of Centre, into a borough.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in General Assembly

met, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That When election of hereafter the burgess, town council and street commissioners, of the borough officers borough of Milesburg, shall be elected on the second Friday in May in to be held. each year: Provided, That the burgess, town council and street com

`missioners now in office, shall hold their respective offices until their places shall be supplied by à new election.

SECTION 2. That the settlement and publication of accounts, provided Time of publishing and settling for in the twelfth section of the act to which this is a supplement, shall accounts, changed hereafter be had in the month of April; and so much of the said act as is hereby altered or supplied, be and the same is hereby repealed.

AN ACT

To authorize Lewis Urban of Lancaster county, to quarry stone and erect a barn on the property of his ward, Anthony Oldweiler.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in General Assembly met, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That it shall and may be lawful for Lewis Urban of Lancaster county, as guardian of Anthony Oldweiler, son of Leonard Oldweiler, deceased, of York county, to quarry upon the real estate devised for the support of said Anthony Oldweiler, and sell and deliver as many stone as will defray the expenses of erecting on the said real estate a suitable barn, which the said Lewis Urban is hereby authorized to erect; he to keep an account of the sales of the stones quarried, and the expenses of the building of such barn, and submit the same, accompanied with proper vouchers, to the orphans' court of York county for examination: Provided, That before this act shall take effect, the said Lewis Urban shall give security, to be approved of by the said court, for the faithful execution of his trust.

A SUPPLEMENT

To an act passed the thirteenth day of January, eighteen hundred and ten, entitled "An Act to incorporate the Bible society of Philadelphia."

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in General Assembly met, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That

the officers of the said society, (now called the Pennsylvania Bible Who shall consociety) elected according to the provisions of the act to which this is a stitute the board supplement, or of any other supplement thereto, shall be associated of managers. with the managers in the direction of the affairs of the society, and entitled to all the rights and privileges of managers in transacting its busi ness, and shall jointly with them constitute the board of managers.

To authorize Regina Scholl and her son John D. Scholl, of Lehigh county, to sell certain real estate.

they are hereby authorized to sell and convey in fee simple, at public sale, all that messuage, tenements and three tracts of land, situate in Heidleberg township, Lehigh county, as described in the will of Henry Scholl, deceased, and to invest the proceeds thereof, under the direction of the orphans' court of Lehigh county, in other more productive real estate, or place the same upon interest on real security, as may be deemed most proper to carry into effect the last will and testament of the said Henry Scholl, deceased: Provided, That before this said sale shall take place, the said Regina Scholl and John D. Scholl shall give security, to be approved by the said court, for the faithful application of the proceeds of said sale, agreeably to the desire of said deceased.
