Send Thy blessing, Heavenly Father, upon these provisions of Thy bounty, and for all Thy countless mercies give us thankful hearts for Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Brethren of the New York State Bar Association, I have learned through my brief experience as President of the Association that I could do nothing and was to do nothing until the Secretary was in his seat. (Laughter.) Before I proceed with the very pleasant duty of introducing the celebrated speakers who are to address you I have first a very grateful service to perform in recognition of the indefatigable, the invaluable, the untiring services of the Secretary of this Association. (Applause.) On the other side of the water I heard a great deal of a little sect called the Dolamites, who took their name from the cave of the Dolma, I never exactly understood where it was. (Laughter.) Now, we are not Dolamites, but to a man we are Wadhamites. (Laughter.)
