1 Attorney General Clark resigned effective January 20, 1969. 2 Mr. John N. Mitchell, of New York, was nominated to be Attorney General by President Nixon on January 20, 1969. The nomination was confirmed by the Senate on January 20, 1969; he was commissioned on January 21, 1969; and took the oath of office on January 22, 1969. He was presented to the Court on February 24, 1969. (See post, p. v.)

It is ordered that the following allotment be made of the Chief Justice and Associate Justices of this Court among the circuits, pursuant to Title 28, United States Code, Section 42, and that such allotment be entered of record, viz.:
