PREFACE. THE object in preparing this collection of cases has been to place before the profession, in a compact and accessible form, the decisions of the U. S. Circuit Courts, which are constantly cited in the Federal Digests, and treatises upon U. S. Courts, and which have not been published in the regular series of reports. Frequent inquiries at our Law Libraries for such cases have shown the necessity for a collection of this nature. It has been the endeavor of the editor to include all the cases (except decisions on Bankruptcy and Revenue Law), which have been decided in Circuit Courts throughout the United States, and which have been printed in law Magazines, Periodicals, etc., from the date of the earliest decisions to time of the publication of the Federal Reporter, which latter purports to include all Circuit Court Cases decided since its inception. The Bankruptcy Cases in these courts are extremely voluminous, of little or no value at present, and most of these cases will be found in the Bankrupt Register. The decisions relative to Revenue Law are of special interest only to a very few, and are to be found collected in the Internal Revenue Record. The cases comprising this collection, containing many valuable decisions on Federal Law, have been taken from the Law Periodicals, Magazines, and States Reports, current at the time when the decisions were rendered, many of which volumes are now out of print, and rarely found even in the most complete public libraries. The result of such a collection is in effect to complete the series of Circuit Court Reports, and to present in connection with the already published volumes of Circuit Court cases, easy access to any decision rendered by the Circuit Courts (with the exception above stated), which may be cited or referred to.
