To Amend An Act Entitled, "An Act to Provide a Terri-
torial and County Revenue, being Chapter Twenty-eight
of the Session Laws of 1869.

Be it enacted by the Council and House of Representatives of

SEC. 3. All acts, and parts of acts, inconsistent with this act, are hereby repealed.

pended Balances in any Fund Appropriated at the
last Session of the Legislative Assembly-Making
an Appropriation to Pay Certain Warrants,
and for other purposes.

That there is hereby appropriated out of any funds in the territorial treasury not otherwise appropriated by law, the sum of one thousand two hundred and seventythree dollars, to pay off and discharge the outstanding certificates of indebtedness issued by the auditor on account of the transportation and subsistence of convicts, to-wit: To William Crawford, February 13, 1871, amount four hundred and thirty-five dollars and fifty cents; sheriff of Laramie county, June 2, 1871, amount five hundred and fifteen dollars; Z. R. Brockaway, June 30, 1871, amount, three hundred and twenty-two dollars and fifty cents,

SEC. 4. That all acts and parts of acts or joint resolutions inconsistent herewith, be, and the same are hereby repealed. SEC. 5. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.

AN ACT

Fixing the Compensation of Members of the Council and
House of Representatives of the Territory of Wyoming

and making an Appropriation for that purpose.

Be it enacted by the Council and House of Representatives of the Territory of Wyoming:

SECTION 1. That members of the council and house of

representatives of Wyoming territory, of this, and all subsequent sessions of said council and house of representatives, shall receive in addition to the per diem paid them by the general government, the sum of four dollars per day for each day of actual attendance on such legislature.

SEC. 2. There is hereby appropriated out of the territorial fund of this territory, the sum of three thousand five hundred and twenty dollars, for the purpose of meeting the per diem allowed in the first section of this act, and the auditor of this territory is hereby authorized and required to draw a warrant on the territorial treasury in favor of each member of the said council and house of representatives, on presentation to him, by such member, of a certificate signed by the speaker of the house, or president of the council, for members of their houses respectively, and by the clerk of the house, or secretary of the council as the case may be, certifying that the holder thereof was a member of such body, and was in actual attendance on the duties of the same, and upon the presentation of such warrant to the territorial treasurer he shall pay the same out of any funds in the treasury not otherwise appropriated.

SEC. 3. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.

the Legislative Assembly of the Territory of Wyoming.
Be it enacted by the Council and House of Representatives of
the Territory of Wyoming:

SECTION 1. That there shall be allowed to the clerks and other officers of the house of representatives, compensation as follows: For the enrolling and engrossing clerks, the sum of seven dollars per day each; to the door-keeper, the sum of five dollars per day; to the page, the sum of four dollars per day; to the chief clerk, the sum of seven dollars per day in addition to the per diem paid by the United States;

SEC. 3. The certificate of the speaker of the house of representatives, countersigned by the chief clerk of the house, or of the president of the council, countersigned by the secretary of the council, shall be sufficient authority for the territorial auditor to draw warrants for the several amounts therein certified, in favor of the holder thereof, upon the territorial treasurer, and upon the presentation of such certificate, the said auditor is hereby required to draw such warrant, which shall be paid out of any funds in the territorial treasury not otherwise appropriated. The certificates provided for in this section shall specify the number of days' service performed by the holder, and the rate per diem to which he is entitled by the provisions of this act.

SEC. 4. There is hereby appropriated out of any funds in the territorial treasury, the sum of three thousand five

hundred and sixty dollars for the payment of the warrants herein provided for.

SEC. 5.

This act shall take effect and be in fores from and after the eighteenth day of December, A. D., 1871. Approved 9th December, 1871.

To Authorize the Board of Trustees of the City of Cheyenne
to Levy and Collect a Special Tax to Pay off the Mortgage
on the Steam Fire Engine "T. C. Durant."

Be it enacted by the Council and House of Representatives of

SEC. 1. It shall be the duty of the board of trustees of Purant Enthe city of Cheyenne to levy and collect a special tax upon tax. all taxable property in said city, for the purpose of raising a sum of money sufficient to pay off the balance of the indebtedness of the said city for, and on account of the payment of the mortgage upon the steam fire "engine "T. C. Durant,' for the purchase money; Provided, That the amount so raised shall not exceed the sum of two thousand dollars.

SEC. 2. For the purpose of carrying into effect the pro-Ma visions of section one of this act, said board of trustees shall at their first meeting after the passage of this act, order an assessment of all the taxable property of sail city, to be made in the manner provided by chapter eighty-two of the session laws of 1869, entitled "an act to incorporate the city. of Cheyenne," and within one week after said assessment is returned to said board of trustees, the said board of trustees shall make a special levy of taxes, for the purpose contemplated by this act.

SEC. 3. After such levy is made it shall be the duty of the collector to at once proceed and collect said tax in the manner provided by chapter eighty-two of the laws of Wyoming.

SEC. 4. After said tax is collected, the [same] shall be paid over to the treasurer of said city, who shall pay to the collector one per centime of the amount so collected, for his
