Fifth Sunday after Easter. HYMN XLI. JESUS, immortal King, display Thine arm of strength, and win the day; And leave the conquered world to Thee. Let heavenly hosts triumphant sing, Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; HYMN XLII. ALL hail the great Immanuel's name— Bring forth the royal diadem, And crown Him Lord of all. Crown Him, ye martyrs of our God, Who from his altar call: Extol the stem of Jesse's rod, Let every kindred, every tribe, And crown Him Lord of all. O that with yonder sacred throng, Ascension Day. HYMN XLIII. Lo! God to heav'n ascendeth- Sing praise to Christ the Lord- With joy is heav'n resounding, The Lord, who set them free: Bright myriads thronging come, And loud seraphic voices Welcome Messiah home. No more the way is hidden, No more to man forbidden goes. The road to heav'n that Where Jesus Christ has enter'd, There may our hearts be found; There let our hopes be centred, Our journey thither bound. PSALM XXIV.-PART I. THE earth is God's, the fulness too And built it on the seas. Who shall go up the hill of God, Who hath not lifted up his heart Nor dealt untruly by his friend, The family of Israel, The men who seek his grace, These shall be blest and righteous held Before the God of grace. To God the only wise, Our Saviour and our King, Let all the saints below the skies "Tis his almighty love, His counsel and his care, Preserves us safe from sin and death, He will present our souls Then all the chosen seed Shall meet before the throne, Shall bless the conduct of his grace, And make his wonders known. To our Redeemer God Wisdom and power belongs, Immortal crowns of majesty, And never-ending songs. PSALM XXIV. PART II. LIFT up your heads, eternal gates, The King of Glory: See! He comes Who is the King of Glory? Who? The Lord, for strength renown'd; In battle mighty, o'er his foes Eternal victor crown'd. Lift up your heads, ye gates, unfold In state to entertain The King of Glory: See! He comes With all his shining train. Who is the King of Glory? Who? The Lord of Hosts renown'd; Of glory He alone is King, Who is with glory crown'd. |
