DEDICATED TO HER ROYAL HIGHNESS THE PRINCESS VICTORIA,

BY PERMISSION.

"We are indebted to Mr. Cornish for several pleasing ooks: and we have now to add another to the list, which does equal credit to the geod sense of the Editor of The Young Gentleman's' and My Daughter's' books, and forms altogether a very moral and various miscellany. The Editor's original papers are marked by intelligence, an acquaintance with sterling authors, and a devotedness to every wholesome purpose. His main object is to elevate the female sex." -Literary Gazette.

"Nothing can be better adapted to a bridal offering: but, long before the period of lifs, The Volume of the Affections' will be found serviceable in the work of female instruction, and be a valuable school-room and drawing-room companion." -Educational Magazine.

"This is, in every respect, a book fitted for the perusal of females. The best affections of the heart are excited and brought forth with unexampled skill. Mr. Cornish, for his

previous productions, is entitled to our warm admiration and esteem, but this volume is decidedly his crowning triumph. We have rarely met a work in which rational entertainment has been so happily blended with useful information."Sunday Times.
