Ordered, That the nomination of Reuben T. Thom be referred to the Committee on the Post-Office and Post-Roads.

Ordered, That the nominations of Edgar H. Bates and James Lawrenson be referred to the Committee on the District of Columbia,

Ordered, That the nomination of Thomas R. Welch be referred to the Committee on Public Lands.

Mr. Shields, from the Committee on the District of Columbia, to whom was referred, the 10th instant, the nomination of Thomas C. Donu, reported.

Whereupon

Resolved, That the Senate advise and consent to his appointment, agreeably to the nomination.

Mr. Gwin, from the Committee on Naval Affairs, to whom were referred, the 10th instant, the nominations of John C. Cash, George Adams, George W. Campbell, Robert Lewright Browning, Edward Jones, William L. Nichol, John C. Coleman, Thomas T. Craven, Andrew H. Foote, Miles K. Warrington, and Henry K. Davenport, and on the 14th instant those of John B. Montgomery, William W. Hunter, Napoleon B. Harrison, and Alexander I. Mitchell, reported.

Whereupon

Resolved, That the Senate advise and consent to the promotion and appointment of the said persons, agreeably to their nominations respectively.

Mr. Hamlin, from the Committee on Commerce, to whom was referred, the 10th instant, the nominations of William Leach Giro and Diederich Kohlsaat, and on the 14th instant that of Thomas Trenor, reported. Whereupon

Resolved, That the Senate advise and consent to the appointment of the said persons, agreeably to their nominations respectively.

Mr. Mason, from the Committee on Foreign Relations, to whom was referred, the 9th December last, the nomination of Thomas M. Foote, reported.

Whereupon
