Resolved, That the Senate advise and consent to the appointment of the said person agreeably to their nominations respectively.

Ordered, That the nominations of Samuel D. Heap, George A. Z. Smith, Oliver S. Dewey, Charles G. Greene, Charles H. Peaslee, Robert Parks, William B. Snowhook, Kittridge Sheldon, Minott A. The Senate proceeded to consider the nomination of Samuel J. Bridge; and

Resolved, That the Senate advise and consent to his appointment, agreeably to the nomination.

The convention between the United States of America and Her Britannic Majesty, for the adjustment of certain claims of citizens of the United States on the British Government, and of British subjects upon the Government of the United States, concluded at London the 8th day of February, 1853, was read the second time, and considered as in Committee of the Whole; and no amendment being made thereto, it was reported to the Senate.

Mr. Mason submitted the following resolution for consideration: Resolved (two-thirds of the Senators present concurring), That the Senate advise and consent to the ratification of the convention between the United States of America and Her Britannic Majesty for the adjustment of certain claims of citizens of the United States on the British Government, and of British subjects on the Government of the United States, concluded at London the eighth day of February, eighteen hundred and fifty-three.

The Senate, by unanimous consent, proceeded to consider the said resolution; and on the question to agree thereto,

So the resolution was agreed to.

Ordered, That the Secretary lay the said resolution before the President of the United States.

The Senate proceeded to consider the resolution submitted by Mr. Mason, the 9th instant, for the ratification of the convention with Prussia and other states of the Germanic Confederation, concluded the 16th of June, 1852; and on the question to agree thereto,
