XXXII.-NOTE ON THE CO-EXISTENCE OF MAN WITH THE DINORNIS IN NEW ZEALAND.

Mr. WALTER MANTELL obtained strong, if not unequivocal, evidence that Dinornis elephantopus and D. crassus existed contemporaneously with Maori natives in the Middle Island of New Zealand. The bones "are in a recent and most perfect condition. They retain the usual proportion of animal matter, and have under"gone no mineral change. Remains of native ovens, with
