And doft thou believe in the Holy Ghost; The Holy Catholick Church; The Communion of Saints; The remiffion of fins; The resurrection of the flesh; And everlasting life after death?

The fick perfon fhall answer,

All this I ftedfastly believe.

Then fhall the Prieft examine the fick perfon, whether he repent him truly of all his fins, and be in charity with the whole world; exhorting him to forgive from the bottom of his heart all perfons that have offended him, and if he have offended any other, to ask their forgiveness; and where he hath done wrong or injury to any man, that he make amends to the uttermost of his power. And if he have not before difpofed of his goods, let him then be admonished to make his Will, and to declare his debts what he oweth, and what is owing to him, for the better discharging of his confcience, and the quieting of his Executors. But men fhould be often put in remembrance to take order for the Jettling of their temporal eftates, whilst they are in

health.

The Prieft fhould not omit earnestly to move fuch fick perfons as are of ability, to be liberal to the poor.

The foregoing exhortation and examination need not be repeated every day, but only fo often as the Prieft fhall fee convenient.

Then fhall the Prieft kneel down and fay, all kneeling. Remember not, Lord, our iniquities, nor the iniquities of our forefathers. Spare us, good Lord, fpare thy people, whom thou haft redeemed with thy moft precious blood, and be not angry with us for ever.

Anfw. Spare us, good Lord.

Pr. Lord, have mercy upon us.'
Anfw. Christ, have mercy upon us.
Pr. Lord, have mercy upon us.

Then shall all fay the Lord's prayer.

UR Father, who art in heaven; Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trefpaffes, as we forgive them that trefpafs against us. And lead us not into temptation; But deliver us from the evil one. Amen.

Pr. O Lord, fave thy fervant;

Anfw. Who putteth his truft in thee.

Pr. Send him help from thy holy place;
Anfw. And evermore mightily defend him.
Pr. Let the enemy have no advantage of him;
Anfw. Nor the wicked approach to hurt him.
Pr. Be unto him, O Lord, a strong tower,
Anfw. From the face of his enemy.

Pr. O Lord, hear our prayers:

Anfw. And let our cry come unto thee.

Then

Then fhall the Priest fay the two Collects following.

Lord, look down from heaven, behold, visit,

and relieve this thy fervant. Look upon bim with the eyes of thy mercy, give him comfort and fure confidence in thee, defend him from the danger of the enemy, and keep him in perpetual peace and fafety, through Jefus Christ our Lord. Amen.

HEAR us, Almighty and moft merciful God and Saviour; extend thy accustomed goodness to this thy fervant, who is grieved with fickness. Sanctify, we beseech thee, this thy fatherly correction to him; that the sense of his weakness may add ftrength to his faith, and seriousness to his repentance. That if it shall be thy good pleasure to restore him to his former health, he may lead the refidue of his life in thy fear and to thy glory; or else give him grace fo to take thy vifitation, that after this painful life ended, he may attain everlafting joy and felicity, through Jefus Chrift our Lord. Amen.

Then the Priest shall stand up, and laying his hand upon the fick perfon's head, he shall fay the following prayer over him, if he think proper; for this prayer is to be faid or omitted at the difcretion of the Priest.

Moft merciful God, who according to the multitude of thy mercies doft fo put away the fins of those who truly repent, that thou rememberest them no more; open thine eye of mercy upon this thy fervant, who moft earnestly defireth pardon and forgiveness. Renew in him, most loving Father, whatsoever hath been decayed by the fraud and malice of the devil, or by his own carnal will and frail

ness; preferve and continue this fick member in the unity of the church; confider his contrition, accept his tears, and affwage his pain, as fhall feem to thee moft expedient for him. And forafmuch as he putteth his full truft only in thy mercy, impute not unto him his former fins, but ftrengthen him with thy bleffed Spirit; and when thou art pleased to take him hence, take him unto thy favour, through the merits of thy most dearly beloved Son Jefus Chrift our Lord. Amen.

Then Jhall the Prieft fay this Pfalm ftanding, the fick perfon repeating it after him, if he be able; but if the perfon vifited be very fick, the Pfalm may be omitted.

N thee, O Lord, have I put my truft, let me never be put to confufion: but rid me, and deliver me in thy righteousness; incline thine ear unto me, and fave me.

Be thou my strong hold, whereunto I may alway refort: thou haft promised to help me, for thou art my houfe of defence, and my caftle.

For thou, O Lord God, art the thing that I long for: thou art my hope, even from my youth. Through thee have I been holden up ever fince I was born: thou art he that took me out of ther's womb; my praise fhall be always of thee.

O let my mouth be filled with thy praise that I may fing of thy glory and honour all the day long. Caft me not away in the time of age: forfake me not, when my strength faileth me.

Go not far from me, O God: my God, hafle thee to help me.

As for me I will patiently abide alway: and will praise thee more and more.

My mouth fhall daily fpeak of thy righteousness and falvation: for I know no end thereof.

I will go forth in the ftrength of the Lord God: and will make mention of thy righteoufnefs only.

Thou, O God, haft taught me from my youth up until now therefore will I talk of thy wondrous works.

Forfake me not, O God, in mine old age, when I am gray-headed: until I have fhewed thy strength unto this generation, and thy power to all them that are yet for to come.

Thy righteousness, O God, is very high, and great things are they that thou hast done; O God, who is like unto thee?

O fpare me a little, that I may recover my strength: before I go hence, and be no more seen.

Pr. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost;

Then Shall the Prieft fay,

Saviour of the world, who by thy crofs and precious blood haft redeemed us, fave us, and help us, we humbly befeech thee, O Lord.

Then Shall the Prieft anoint the fick perfon, (if the Prieft think proper in his difcretion, and the fick perfon defire it) upon the forehead with the holy oil, making the fign of the cross, and faying, S with this vifible oil thy body outwardly is anointed; So Almighty God our heavenly Fa
