Then another Bishop shall read

The Epistle. 1 Tim. 3. I. THIS is a true saying, If a man desire the office

1 of a Bishop, he desireth a good work. A Bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach, not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre, but patient, not a brawler, not covetous; one that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity; (for if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?) not a Novice, lest being lifted up with pride, he fall into the condemnation of the devil. Moreover he must have a good report of them who are Without, lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.

Then another Bishop shall read

The Gospel. S. John 21. 15. TEíus faith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, J lovest thou me more than these? He faith unto him, Yea, Lord, thou knowest that I love thee. He faith unto him, Feed my lambs. He saith to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, loveft thou me? He faith unto him, Yea, Lord, thou knowest that I love thee. He faith unto him, Feed my sheep. He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee, Jesus faith unto him, Feed my sheep. .
