Westminster, June 4, 1824.

THIS day, the Lords being met, a message was sent to the Honourable House of Commons by the Gentleman Usher of the Black Rod, acquainting them, that The Lords, authorised by virtue of a Commission under the Great Seal, signed by His Majesty, for declaring His Royal Assent to several Acts agreed upon by both Houses, do desire the immediate attendance of the Honourable House in the House of Peers to hear the Commission read; and the Commons being come thither, the said Commission, empowering the Lord Archbishop of Canterbury, the Lord High Chancellor of Great Britain, and several other Lords therein named, to declare and notify the Royal Assent to the said Acts, was read accordingly, and the Royal Assent given to

An Act to repeal the duties on licences to brew and to retail beer, spirituous liquors, and foreign wine, and to grant other duties in lieu thereof, and amend the laws of excise relating to such duties, and to brewers and retailers of beer.

An Act to provide for the paving, gravelling, lighting, and watching, certain footways and carriageways in and near Brompton-square, in the parish of Saint Mary-Abbotts, Kensington, in the county of Middlesex, and to provide for the maintenance of a garden and shrubbery in the said -square. 1824.

The King has been pleased to order a congé d'elire to pass the Great Seal, empowering the Dean and Chapter of the Cathedral Church of Chester to elect a Bishop of that See, the same being void by the translation of the Right Reverend Father in God George Henry, late Bishop thereof, to the See of Bath and Wells; and His Majesty has also been pleased to recommend to the said Dean and Chapter, the Reverend Charles James Blomfield, Doctor in Divinity, to be by them elected Bishop of the said See of Chester.

The King has been pleased to give and grant unto Sir George Nayler, Garter Principal King of Arms, and Knight of the Royal Hanoverian Guelphic Order, His royal licence and permission that he may, in compliance with the earnest desire expressed by His Most Faithful Majesty John the Sixth, King of Portugal, accept and wear the insignia of a Knight Commander of the Royal
