PERPETUAL Curate of st. PAUL'S CHURCH, HALIFAX: PRINTED AND SOLD BY N. WHITLEY: LONGMAN, REES, ORME, BROWN, AND GREEN; AND MDCCCXXVII. PARISHIONERS OF HALIFAX. ESPECIALLY TO THAT CONGREGATION AMONG WHOM, AS A SON WITH THE FATHER, HE LABOURED IN THE GOSPEL FOR THE PERIOD OF SIX YEARS, THE FOLLOWING REVISED AND ENLARGED WORK IS NOW, WITH FEELINGS OF UNFEIGNED GRATITUDE, MOST RESPECTFULLY INSCRIBED, BY THEIR AFFECTIONATE FRIEND AND SERVANT IN CHRIST, THE EDITOR. EDITOR'S PREFACE. IT was well known to many of those who were intimately acquainted with the revered Author of the First Series in the following Manual, that he had been repeatedly and earnestly requested, from many quarters, to extend his original Work, which had been received with very general approbation by the Christian community. That it was his intention to comply with this request appears evident from the circumstance, that among his manuscripts a book has been found, on the first leaf of which a considerable portion of a Prayer for the Lord's Day Morning has been written by him in a clear and distinct hand. It is regretted that the remainder of that book consists of blank leaves only. |
